Overview
Our programs bring together lecturers from different academic backgrounds and disciplines to create a strong research environment, target broad fields covered by modern neuroscience, and contribute to the understanding of how our ‘Brain’ works, and it creates a bridge between the core areas of neuroscience, such as ‘molecular, developmental, cellular, systemic, cognitive, operational, and clinical.
Thanks to its KUTTAM – Koç University Translational Medicine Research Center infrastructure, Koç University creates a structure that aims to improve human health by bringing together life sciences, social sciences, engineering, and medicine areas. The cooperation of faculty members of the Faculty of Medicine, Engineering, Social Sciences, and Science, by supporting the multidisciplinary working culture, provide the most favorable conditions for neuroscience education, which is strictly adhered to such an approach. This program enables students who come from fields of medicine and science, engineering, and social sciences to use this potential to catch up with the latest technological developments.
The Neuroscience Master’s with Thesis Program, which allows students from many different branches to meet neuroscience, aims to conduct versatile and high-impact researches by teaching the basic elements and research methods of neuroscience and training qualified researchers who can do such research in the future. Students are provided with basic knowledge in all major areas of neuroscience, including molecular neuroscience and neurobiology, computational and computational neuroscience, cognitive and behavioral neuroscience, and clinical neuroscience.
This program is also preparing the ground for “translational research” to adapt the images in the basic sciences to the clinical setting in the neuroscience field. Ultimately, the field of neuroscience is in close relation with neurology, psychiatry, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, and algology, neuropathology, neuroradiology, ophthalmology, otolaryngology, clinical neurophysiology, psychiatry, neurosurgery, anesthesiology, and algology, especially with some of the medical fields related with central nervous system diseases. By collaborating with the existing laboratories in the relevant fields within the faculties operating at Koç University, researchers from different disciplines are also provided with the opportunity to develop new treatment options, medicines, and medical devices for diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and control, mitigation, and prevention of neuroscience diseases.
